The final film in Cinephile Paradiso’s Swingin’ Sixties season is Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic horror film The Birds…

To celebrate the release of Mark Cousins’ new documentary MY NAME IS ALFRED HITCHCOCK, we are thrilled to reveal the final title in Cinephile Paradiso’s Swingin’ Sixties Season which is THE BIRDS.

Socialite Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) meets Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) in a San Francisco pet store and decides to follow him home. She brings with her the gift of two love birds and they strike up a romance. Suddenly, the tranquil skies become a battleground as flocks of relentless and inexplicably aggressive birds launch a terrifying attack on humanity.

The Birds was groundbreaking in its approach to horror and has left a lasting legacy. This atmospheric thriller delivers an unnerving exploration of nature’s wrath and the primal fear of the unknown. It took a common, everyday element (birds) and turned them into agents of terror. The Birds remains one of cinema’s most celebrated and spine-chilling classics.
